Maryland Tech Council Venture Mentoring Service (MTC VMS)

Maryland Tech Council VMS helps build Maryland-based companies, educate company founders and c-suite executives; attract capital; create new jobs and build the ecosystem for the Maryland technology and life sciences community. The VMS is a program of The Maryland Tech Council, which is the largest technology and life science trade association in Maryland with 600+ corporate members.

MTC attended the Immersion Program in May 2015, followed by onsite Mentor Training delivered by an MIT VMS instructor later that year. In seven years of operations, the MTC VMS program has grown to include 112 enrolled ventures and over 200 mentors. Their mentee companies have diverse ownership (40 minority-, 4  veteran-, and 20 women-owned), and have raised $152.9 million in capital and grants.

“Being a mentee in MTC VMS has been extremely impactful for us as a small startup company,” said Remedy Plan Therapeutics Founder and CEO Greg Crimmins, Ph.D. “We came to Maryland from California and needed a place to start. We were able to develop deep connections and instead of just jumping into the ‘deep end of the pool’ and starting to swim on our own, we have experienced mentors coaching and guiding us along the way. I’m so impressed with the caliber of the program and mentors that I’ve referred several other new CEOs to the program.”
