SelecTech, Inc. was founded in 1993 with the mission of creating valuable products from scrap plastics. Using state-of-the-art technology and innovative product design, SelecTech created FreeStyle and SelecTile Flooring. With up to 70% recycled content and being 100% recyclable, FreeStyle Flooring is helping us achieve this mission.

Our business strategy is focused on solving a problem that continues to hinder the recycling industry. Although the environmental movement is encouraging consumers to purchase products made with recycled materials, consumers are reluctant to pay the higher prices that these products typically bear. SelecTech has created a business that converts low-cost waste plastics into high-quality products that help customers save money.

Moreover, our unique interlock system allows our FreeStyle Flooring products to be installed at a much lower cost, without adhesives, and without a lot of costly downtime and disruption, which increases the value of our "scrap" plastics to the customer.

I started my business several years ago and, in hindsight, took on more than I bargained for, trying to develop a technology, create products with that technology, build a facility to produce those products, establish sales channels to sell those products, and raise money to support all of this. After spending a couple of years muddling along, I was hit with one of the recessions and found myself scrambling to keep my business alive. That’s when I found out about VMS. Desperate and not knowing what to do, I called the VMS main phone number and simply asked for help. The response was immediate – "we can help". They assembled a team of mentors, with a varied set of skills and background to get me back on my feet. While the specific advice provided was incredibly useful, the most valuable thing provided was the confidence to move forward. The mentors have always been very supportive to me emotionally. I’ve never felt judged for mistakes I’ve made, only guided and supported to improve myself and my business.

Over the years, I’ve turned to the VMS for additional guidance and the help is always perfectly matched to what I need and provided amazingly quickly. They’ve provided guidance on setting up strategic relationships with large companies, navigating through some difficult times with my investors, establishing relationships with new vendors, preparing presentations to investors, building and managing sales channels, focusing and targeting sales and marketing efforts, and attracting new strategic partners.
